+ How It Works

The Carbonyx™ Process

Group of large industrial storage tanks in an outdoor facility under a partly cloudy sky.
Step 01
American Anthracite Feedstock
U.S.-sourced anthracite, including legacy Pennsylvania culm, provides a low-cost, high-carbon feedstock for the Carbonyx™ process.
Inside industrial facility with large cylindrical tanks on both sides and a forklift at the center aisle.
Step 02
Patented Chemical Treatment
Patented chemical treatment removes ash-forming minerals and inorganic impurities, creating a cleaner and more readily graphitizable carbon precursor.
Large blue industrial machine with control panel and display screens inside a factory setting.
Step 03
Lower-Temperature Graphitization
Terrion has demonstrated synthetic graphite formation near 2,600°C, approximately 400°C below temperatures commonly used in conventional petroleum-coke graphitization routes.

Step 04
Three Material
Pathways
The Carbonyx™ platform supports three material pathways: synthetic graphite powder, molded graphite products, and graphene, each with engineered products for specific customers.
